{"id":12278,"date":"2020-07-22T14:20:46","date_gmt":"2020-07-22T11:20:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.atidi.africa\/ati-to-attract-us138-million-in-new-capital\/"},"modified":"2020-07-22T14:20:46","modified_gmt":"2020-07-22T11:20:46","slug":"ati-to-attract-us138-million-in-new-capital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.atidi.africa\/ja\/ati-to-attract-us138-million-in-new-capital\/","title":{"rendered":"ATI to attract US$138 million in new capital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ATI\u2019s recent 20<sup>th<\/sup> Annual General Meeting approved new shareholders that will contribute significantly to its capital base\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ati-aca.org\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/08\/A-propos-dATI.pdf\">ATI<\/a>\u2019s recently concluded 20<sup>th<\/sup> Annual General Meeting (AGM) adopted its 2019 annual accounts in which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ati-aca.org\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/08\/A-propos-dATI.pdf\">ATI<\/a> posted a record eighth consecutive year of growth to a total Gross Assets of over US$6.4 billion and US$27.7 million in Profits.<\/li>\n<li>The AGM also approved three new membership applications, including one from an AAA-rated non-African country, collectively expected to yield around $47 million in new capital.<\/li>\n<li>In addition to these new applicants, the African Development Bank and the European Investment Bank are expected to support the capital contribution of five new African member states and an increase in capital of an existing member by US$91 million.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>NAIROBI, 22 July, 2020<\/strong> \u2013 The African Trade Insurance Agency (ATI) concluded its 20<sup>th<\/sup> Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the 17<sup>th<\/sup> July. The virtual meeting, which attracted a record number of countries, approved key decisions supporting the institution\u2019s global expansion. The AGM also adopted ATI\u2019s 2019 annual accounts, which saw the institution achieve another year of record performance with a net profit of US$27.7 million, a Return on Capital (ROC) exceeding 10% for the first time, and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ati-aca.org\/jp\/blog\/moodys-rates-ghana-membership-credit-positive-for-ati-with-potential-to-increase-atis-gross-exposure-to-over-us6-3bn\/\">Gross Exposure<\/a> of US$6.4 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The record number of government participants in the meeting highlights the recognition by African countries of ATI\u2019s role in helping attract trade and investments. H.E. Dr. Mohamed Maait, Egypt\u2019s Minister of Finance noted the economic, trade and finance benefits that ATI brings to its member states. He commented that Egypt, the previous Chair of the African Union, is committed to supporting African institutions and is focused on completing its membership in ATI. H.E. In addition, Dr. Issa Doubragne, Minister of Economy and Development Planning, participated for the first time in ATI\u2019s General Meeting on behalf of the Republic of Chad, an imminent member state. During the meeting, other countries also re-affirmed their commitment to fast-track their membership processes.<\/p>\n<p>Five countries are expected to become fully-fledged members within the coming months, while an existing member state indicated its intention to increase its capital contribution.
