data-end=\"187\">ATIDI\u2019s RLSF Supports Togo Sokod\u00e9 Solar Power Project<\/strong><br data-start=\"187\" data-end=\"190\" \/>ATIDI has approved the issuance of a payment guarantee for the 62MW Sokod\u00e9 Solar Power Project through the Regional Liquidity Support Facility (RLSF).<br data-start=\"340\" data-end=\"343\" \/>The RLSF insurance covers the risk of non-payment by the national utility company, Compagnie Energie Electrique du Togo (CEET).<br data-start=\"470\" data-end=\"473\" \/>The project is jointly developed by Meridiam and EDF and will be the second grid-connected solar project in Togo.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"590\" data-end=\"1020\"><strong data-start=\"590\" data-end=\"615\">Nairobi, 7 July 2025:<\/strong> The African Trade &amp; Investment Development Insurance (ATIDI) will provide liquidity coverage for the groundbreaking 62MW renewable energy initiative \u2014 the Sokod\u00e9 Solar Power Project \u2014 located in central Togo, through its Regional Liquidity Support Facility (RLSF).<br data-start=\"880\" data-end=\"883\" \/>This marks the first RLSF-supported project in Togo, the first in West Africa, and the tenth such project across ATIDI\u2019s member states.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1022\" data-end=\"1426\">The grid-connected power plant, developed by France\u2019s energy major \u00c9lectricit\u00e9 de France (EDF) and Meridiam, will sell electricity exclusively to the state-owned CEET under a 25-year take-or-pay Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).<br data-start=\"1248\" data-end=\"1251\" \/>The plant\u2019s output will be integrated into the national transmission network through a newly built 11 km transmission line, which will be financed by the Government of Togo.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1428\" data-end=\"1781\">The RLSF insurance will initially cover up to six months of the power producer\u2019s revenue for a period of up to 15 years.<br data-start=\"1548\" data-end=\"1551\" \/>This strategic layer of payment security plays a crucial role in mitigating transaction risks, strengthening the financing structure, and accelerating financial close by creating a more attractive platform for potential lenders.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1783\" data-end=\"1941\">The project has secured debt financing from the African Development Bank (AfDB) and Proparco, the private sector arm of the French Development Agency (AFD).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1943\" data-end=\"2355\">As part of its commitment to responsible and sustainable investment, ATIDI conducted a comprehensive due diligence process covering environmental, social, and operational aspects to ensure that the project aligns with ATIDI\u2019s high sustainability standards and RLSF eligibility criteria.<br data-start=\"2229\" data-end=\"2232\" \/>Following an environmental and social review under ATIDI\u2019s ESG Policy, the project has been classified as <strong data-start=\"2338\" data-end=\"2352\">Category B<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"3250\">As the country\u2019s second-largest solar project by installed capacity, it will supply clean, reliable, and affordable electricity to approximately 700,000 people.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3252\" data-end=\"3460\">Through this project, we are contributing to two of Togo\u2019s national goals \u2014 achieving universal access to electricity by 2030 and increasing the share of renewable energy in the national energy mix to 50%.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3462\" data-end=\"3789\">Currently, over 3.7 million people in Togo lack access to electricity, and about 85% of the country\u2019s power supply depends on fossil fuels and imports from neighboring countries.<br data-start=\"3640\" data-end=\"3643\" \/>The Sokod\u00e9 Solar Power Project will strengthen national generation capacity, reduce import dependence, and promote clean and sustainable growth.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3791\" data-end=\"3960\">This collaboration follows ATIDI\u2019s ongoing engagement with
